Day 14 - Ocean Park aka PANDA Day!!!!

Recap:

Ocean Park!!!!  We (Me, Wayne, Sean, Huang, Carson, Winnie, and Despina) all met up "early" at 11:30am and made our way to Ocean Park after a quick lunch at McDs.  Despite the terrible weather (rained all day), it was an eventful day of randomness.
 Entrance into the park Halloween-style.

As you can see from the souvenir shops, they were really pushing this whole panda concept.  I'm definitely not hating on that because I'm probably one of the biggest panda fans out there.  Only people like Franky understand my enthusiasm haha they are SO sick!  Don't ask me why, they just are...period.

Flamingos in the entrance.  Kind of random, but they were pretty cool.  Notice how they are different colours?  This was Winnie's response to why that's the case:

Me: Why are some flamingos orange and darker than others?
Winnie: I don't know, it's like black and yellow people I guess...
Me: Uhh...WHAT?!
I don't know if that's a logic fail or just pure pure racism haha I'm gonna have to go with the latter :P

Halloween things posted up all over the park.  Can you spot which one stands out?

We ended up running into more UW students.  Meet Aaron and Wendy.  They chose to wander off on their own and not join us...bastards...
Our first ride was the Raging River.  And no, we did not realize it was gonna rain the whole day afterwards.  We went on this first thing thinking that we would dry up by the end of the day...weather prediction fail... P.S. Notice the small Canadian flag under the hat in the second picture?  Represent!

The third and final ride we went on for the day: Mine Train aka a shittyass roller coaster for kids.  Refer to Sean's Facebook album for ride pics, and refer to Huang's blog for a video that Sean and I took while sitting at the front of the train.

STORY TIME: So after we got off that Mine Train thing, we walked over all happily to look at our pictures taken from the ride.  Before we even got to the photo booth, we started hearing all this screaming coming from there.  When we walked closer, we saw this mainland China couple SCREAMING at these two girls operating the photo computers.  Usually when people use the term "screaming" it's just like a quick "fuck you!", but no sir, not in this case.  From what was later translated back to me, this was more along the lines of "FUCK YOU, FUCK YOUR MOTHER, FUCK YOUR FATHER, FUCK YOUR FAMILY! FUCKING SON OF A BITCH! I WILL EAT YOUR FUCKING CHILDREN!!!!" (Ok, I may have added that last part in about eating children....but you get the point).  Please please please refer to Huang's blog for a video of this.  This is the only time I will refer back to his blog...

That's what you call die-hard soccer fans.

1,000 cool points to whoever can spot both seals in this pic.

Since it started raining pretty hard after our rides, we decided to go watch a show instead.  We ended up watching a dolphin/seals show.  It wasn't the best to say the least....
 The "stage" inside Ocean Theatre
Huang, Despina, Sean, and Wayne.  We were late, so we sat so far back that we weren't even sitting on seats.  We ended up sitting on this ledge right in front of the standing area.  The seats actually weren't that bad at all...
The stadium was packed.  Not sure if you can see it from the pic, but all the people in the front did not have a rooftop over them, so they busted out their umbrellas.  Pretty jokes.

Here is the footage of the entire dolphin show.  I really really don't recommend you wasting time watching the whole thing, just skim through it at most...definitely disappointing...

So after we grabbed some quick lunch, we decided to walk around and look for some animals.  But first, we saw some more zombie-like things...
As we started to take pics of this thing, this kid walks in with a toy sword and decides to pose in front of it.  The following was said by Huang as the kid was posing...
"Aw man, why's it gotta be in the MOUTH too?! WTF?!"  That shit was priceless haha

Our cable car experience to reach the other side of the Ocean Park island.  Despina was utterly scared of this the cable car collapsing, which apparently has happened before.... The quality of HK products huh...

Saw this fatass panda stuffed animal and decided I needed to buy it for my car haha It's awesome how it's so fat that it looks like a panda-BALL haha I don't care what anyone says, I'm keeping it....oh, and "no homo"
So fat that they barely fit into the shelves haha
WE SEE THE PANDA BUILDING!!  Off we go to see China's most beloved animal!  A few first-time panda viewers too (i.e. Wayne).  The excitement is definitely in the air...

But wait, oh shit look at this ride that's next to the panda building.  It looks sick!  The description on the sign said something along the following lines:

"3-min thrill-ride unlike any other experience! Not like anything you've ever experienced before! Hold on tight for this adventure!"

Although Wayne almost had to leave the park and wanted to quickly look at the pandas, we still had time for one more adventurous ride, right??  WRONG!  As it turns out, the "ride" was actually just a train that transported people back to the other side of the island.  And of course we didn't realize this until we were actually inside the train.  Realizing how stupid we were, we decided to take the same train back to the panda island afterwards.....pretty damn fail.  Even more fail was the fact that by the time we came back onto the panda island, Wayne had to leave and didn't even get a chance to see the pandas hahahahah. Oh no....

Chilling with the big boss panda...

Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you have all been waiting for....FOOTAGE OF THE GREATEST ANIMAL IN THE WORLD...PANDAS!!!

Here is probably the most best panda of them all:
GO GET 'EM BOY!!!!! Yes, I am 23-years old and freaking immature....leave me alone.

Spelling fails anyone?

So Despina bought some fish balls to eat as a snack afterwards and Huang wanted to try one.  Here is what happened...

Real-life fail anyone?

Ok it's getting pretty late and I need to wake up early to go to Macau tomorrow.  I'm gonna be lazy and just post pics and vids of perhaps the HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY....JELLYFISH!  Only those that have seen the movie Seven Pounds (SICK movie btw) can really appreciate jellyfish.... regardless, enjoy my friends, because I sure as hell did :)

A room full of jellyfish tanks...How unbelievably awesome is that?!!

Traditional Chinese dinner back at Prince Edward to end the day:
Gooood food.

Gooood night.
